Vanuatu Citizenship

Vanuatu is a Pacific island country which is located in the South Pacific Ocean. Officially the Republic of Vanuatu, Vanuatu is 1,090 miles east of northern Australia, with Fiji to its west.

France and the United Kingdom claimed parts of the island in the 1880s before an independence movement in the 1970s. In 1980, the Republic of Vanuatu was founded. Since its independence, Vanuatu has become a United Nations and Commonwealth of Nations member.

The principal language used in Vanuatu is Bislama, a Creole language derived from English. English and French are the two other official languages of Vanuatu.

Vanuatu has a tropical climate, meaning warm temperatures throughout the year. The summer months are hotter, with temperatures reaching around 35°C.

Vanuatu's GDP accounts for less than 0.01% of the world economy, with a value of $863 million in 2017.
